HISTORY

Established in 1953, Southern Casting Company has been producing quality aluminum sand castings for over 50 years. Southern Casting Company is a third generation family owned business that was founded in 1953 by Ned Williams and his brother Bob Williams. Both learned the foundry business from their father who owned a foundry in Toledo, Ohio.

Ned Williams was the company president from 1953-1985. J.T. Arnold joined Southern Casting in 1976 and became president of the company in 1985.

In the 1950’s and 1960’s, Southern Casting specialized in outdoor aluminum furniture and expanded to make component parts for signs across the United States for companies such as American Oil and Coke. In the 1970’s and 1980’s, Southern Casting primarily produced castings used in manufacturing textile equipment and machinery. In the past 20 years, Southern Casting has turned its focus to the automotive tooling industry and various manufacturing industries serving customers in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Located at the foot of the Great Smoky Mountains, a new 45,000 square foot manufacturing plant was built in 1994 allowing Southern Casting to modernize equipment and expand casting capabilities. Southern Casting Company has years of experience producing small to large-sized aluminum sand castings, but specializes in medium and large castings. Its dedicated employee team prides itself in accepting new challenges, problem-solving, and commitment to serving customers.
